I've been remiss in blogging, but not in working on my garb!
Yesterday, I "made" a pair of latchet shoes! Okay, well I actually modified an existing pair of modern shoes into period approximates, but it amounts to the same thing... a new pair of ren shoes for $2.99!!!
I posted a complete "How I Did It" on my guild's website at Pennywise Peasant Projects if you're curious, with links to the people who inspired the project.
Cheers!
Scott
I'm so doing that...
ReplyDeleteDid you finish the edges at all, or just chop holes and leave it at that?
The pair shown were suede so I didn't finish the edges. I suppose with a skivving knife and a patient hand with a glover's needle you could fold it and sew it down with a saddler's stitch... But no need to really.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a new pair using a nicer leather to go with my current noble project which I will post soon and that pair I'm doing a bit of sewing and finishing edges so it's taking a little longer...
More on this soon.
